Isi artikel
Calprotectin is a granulocyte and monocyte cytoplasmic protein released during activation of these cells. Plasma levels of calprotectin correlates well with disease activity and joint involvement in rheumatoid arthritis and various other rheumatic diseases., Recently, we published a report on the correlation of elevated serum levels of calprotectin and increased disease activity, based on a cross-sectional study of 100 patients with SLE.3 The question if autoantibodies recognizing calprotectin can be found in SLE patients has thereafter frequently been raised. To examine this possibility we tested sera from 31 patients with SLE (admitted at our clinic), 154 rheumatic patients2 2 and synovial fluid from 82 patients with various rheumatic diseases by immunoblotting and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
