Knowledge, Attitude, and Behavior of Outpatient in Atma Jaya Hospital on Traditional Medicine

The number of traditional medicine users are increasing. Indeed, the usage of traditional medicine has been known in advance compared to modern medicine, but research on traditional medicine has not been much. With the advancement of technology, it makes the traditional drug possibly to be tested. The purpose of the study was to determine the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of outpatients in Atma Jaya Hospital on traditional medicine. The research method is a descriptive study with cross-sectional design using a questionnaire as the instrument. The respondents are 65 people who were an outpatients at Atma Jaya hospital who comply the criteria. The results showed that more than half (50.8%) respondents have a good knowledge about traditional medicine, knowledge mostly gained through the families, the attitude of the respondents were influenced by personal experience factors are 73.8 %, the attitude of the respondents which is influenced by other people are 58.5 %, the attitude of the respondents which is influenced by the emotional factors are 44.6 %, the attitude of the respondents were influenced by the mass media are 29.2 %, the majority of respondents behavior has used traditional medicine and would re-use it. Conclusion respondents mostly have good knowledge, arespondents attitudes are approving traditional medicine, and the behavior of the majority of respondents have used traditional medicine and will use it again. There should a development of traditional medicine in Atma Jaya Hospital so it can be applied to the patient.
