Isi artikelBudd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) is a well-known entity that results from obstruction of the major hepatic veins. Thrombogenic disorders such as essential thrombocythaemia, polycythaemia rubra vera, paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria, deficiency of antithrombin III, protein S, protein C, pregnancy, oral use of contraceptives and the presence of antiphospholipid antibodies are usually the cause of venous thrombosis.
