The New American Schools Development Corporation (NASDC), created at the urging of the Bush Administration in July 1991, held its first of two "design" conferences to present its draft Request for Proposals (RFP) for comment from several hundred interested parties and potential bidders on August 26 and 27 in Arlington, Virgina. This article highlights the conference, the major provisions in the RFP, issues for which clarification was sought, and some general impressions of the potential impact of the project on education.
