The background of this research is that the apparent inefficiency of group system (called rayon) using by PT. Surya Lintas Nusantara. Nowadays the company has got 6 groups and 6 vehicles. One vehicle is for one group. Some customers on the same route are placed in different groups, therefore, the cost is bigger and the delivery time is longer. Whereas the company wants to reduce daily cost caused by petrol consumption. Every vehicle spends Rp 90,000,00 a day for petrol. It is one of the reasons that shows the inefficiency of rayon system. The problem is categorized as vehicle routing problem (VRP). The solution to the problem is using three-phase method. The method consists of using cluster phase with maximum distance 10 kilometers among customers, applying cluster adjustment to the existing vehicles, and creating delivery phase as well as counting total cost of distribution. By using three-phase method, distribution cost can be minimized, from the average of Rp 1,064,408.33 to Rp 775,586.46. |
