Surface roughness of machining product is the important characteristic of product quality and can be a technical standard for mechanical product. Surface roughness product of a milling process can be affected by the cutting parameter such as cutting speed, feed rate, depth of radial cut, depth of axial cut, et cetera. This paper describes the experiment of a prediction model for surface roughness in milling process. Multiple regression analysis has been used in the paper that consist of four independent variable (cutting speed, feed rate, depth of radial cut, depth of axial cut) and the surface roughness as the dependent variable. The result prediction model of the experiment was compared with another model that has been used in general. In conclusion, the result prediction model is more acqurate than another prediction model in prediting the surface roughness. |
