Isi artikelTo conclude, the convention represents another stage in the continuing maturation of international environmental law. I contend that socio economic factors affect desertification and must therefore be addressed by any international law solution. Traditional theories of international law however hinder the capacity of international law to take account of such factors. A variety of public / private distinctions traditionally act to cloak the internal organization of states within a private zone. Feminist legal scholarship can powerfully critique the public / private distinction to reveal the structural and social inequalities within a distinction to reveal the structural and social inequalities within a state and so help make those inequalities relevant to international law.
