Isi artikel
Abused children appear in emergency departments and pediatric intensive care units with alarming frequency. The management of child abuse victims with organ system instability conforms with accepted standards of pediatric critical care; however, there are certain aspects of the history and physical examination of these patients that warrant particular attention. Examples of these are addressed in this article. Further, the role of the pediatrician and intensivist as advocate for the abused child is discussed as it relates to the practitioner’s interaction with legal and social networks.
