Isi artikel
This article summarizes the data suggesting that in children, high blood pressure or a prehypertensive state is controlled either by a major gene effect or by the polygenic expression of genes. Many genes acting independently on other biologic systems may indirectly control the level of blood pressure by influencing systems such as ion transport or catecholamine responses to stress. Additionally, information is provided to explain the global genetic and environmental forces that influence the level of blood pressure in healthy young adolescent children.
