This article is based on the keynote speech delivered by the author during the opening session of the Asia-Pacific High-level Forum on ICPD at 15: Accelerating Progress Towards the ICPD and Millennium Development Goals, which was held in Bangkok on 16 and 17 September 2009. Entitled "A Youth Perspective on Population, Reproductive Health and International Conference on Population and Development", Ms. Koroi's speech presented her candid view on the way forward some 15 years after Cairo consensus, the importance of "unpacking" the ICPD message, and why young people can and should become champions of ICPD. "We don't just want to be beneficiaries of ICPD but implementers as well, so count us in," Ms. Koroi stated.
