This writing is about the uniqueness of the language used in the coastal area of Batak region of Central Tapanuli: the study of lexical and syntactical pattern. It is the fact that in the northern part of Sumatra, there live the ethnic groups of Batak who speak different Batak languages that can be listed as: 1) the people who live in the southern part of Tapanuli speak Batak Mandailing, 2) the people who live in the northern part of Tapanuli speak Batak Toba, 3) the people who live in the county of Simalungun speak Batak Simalungun, 4) the people who live in the region of Tanah Karo speak Batak Karo, 5) the people who live in Pakpak Dairi speak Batak Dairi, and 6) the people who live in the central part of Tapanuli; the region of which actually includes into Batak region speak “Toba Malay”;. The language used in this area is really different compared to other counties of Batak regions, where Batak languages are used; and it is actually the people of the Southern part of Tapanuli, who really live in the boader of Batak region with Minangkabau region, who should use different language. Why is the language used in Central Tapanuli called Toba Malay because it uses Batak language syntactically with Malay lexicon. Even the people from the other provinces in Indonesia usually guest that the people originated from this region are Minangkabaunese. It is for the time being that the writer hypothesizes that the language called Batak Malay uses Batak language syntactically (VS), instead of (SV), with Malay lexicons; because the language used is almost the same as the language used by the people of West Sumatra. The problem is that: Is it true that the lexicon of Toba Malay derived from Minangkabau lexicon or may be there is another aspect to influence? Does the syntactical pattern follow Batak pattern? The existance of Toba Malay, as one of the unique cultures of the nation, as it is up to now, not many people of Indonesia know this language
