The paper discusses how to develop self-access learning materials that can be used as supplement to the face-to-face teaching to improve the English language achievement of the senior high school students. The teaching materials were developed based on the needs of the learners. It is believed that the ability of the students is vary, consequently the materials were developed in three different levels; novice, elementary, and intermediate. The subject of the study was six schools; four senior high schools (2 SMA and 2 MA) and two vocational schools (SMK) in Central Sulawesi. The data was collected by using questionnaire, interview and direct observation. The results of the data analysis show that the students at the six senior high schools find it difficult to study the four language skills; listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The results also indicate that the students find it difficult to study structure and vocabulary. Based on these difficulties, self-access learning materials in Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing were developed
