Abstract
In the year of 2006, according to United Nation, approximately 39.5 million people had been infected with HIV. While, in the year of 2007, HIV/AIDS patients in Jakarta were dominated by toxoplasmosis (39%), meningitis tuberculosis (23%), cryptococcal meningitis (13%) and other infections which cannot be determined. For patient who was infected with HIV, cerebral tuberculosis causes high morbidity and mortality rate, which reaches 70%. Whereas cerebral toxoplasmosis also causes high mortality rate which reaches 53%. Therefore, early diagnosis is very important on patient with HIV, especially on patient with tuberculosis infection or toxoplasmosis due to the high morbidity and mortality rate of both disease. Diagnosis can be made by using MRI. Both cerebal toxoplasmosis and cerebral tuberculosis show ringenhancing lesion on MRI imaging. However, on the MRI imaging of cerebral toxoplasmosis, eccentric nodule can be found in the side of the enhancing ring, which often called “asymmetric target sign”.
