Abstract
Background: Human Immunodeficiency Virus is a virus that decreases the human immune system. The main target of HIV is the CD4 lymphocyte cell. If the level of CD4 is less than 200 per microliter of blood, any microorganism, will easily infect the body, including oral cavity. Some researchers reported that oral manifestations in patients with HIV are an early indicator to predict the progress of the process of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. Group 1 EEC Clearinghouse is the group of oral manifestation that closely related to HIV/AIDS. The objective of this study is to know the prevalence of oral manifestation of group 1 EEC Clearinghouse of the patient with HIV in Kiosk of Health Information Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia.
Methods: This is a cross sectional retrospective study. The respondents are patient with HIV in Kiosk for Health Information Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia. Data was collected from the medical record.
Results: The total number of the respondent is 108. Angular cheilitis found as much as 4.6% (n=5) and oral hairy leukoplakia as much as 1.9% (n=2). In respondents with angular cheilitis, one respondent has a CD4 <200 cells/mm3, 2 respondents with CD4 between 200-500 cells/mm3, and one respondent with CD4> 500 cells/mm3. Three respondents had started their therapy while the other two had not started antiretroviral therapy. In respondents with oral hairy leukoplakia, 2 respondents have a CD4 value <200 cells/mm3. One respondent had started therapy, and one had not started antiretroviral therapy.
Conclusion: The prevalence of angular cheilitis of the patient with HIV/AIDS in Kiosk is 4.6% and oral hairy leukoplakia is 1.9%.
