Isi artikel
In analyzing poetry we must take into account 8 elements: rhymes, paraphrase, denotation-connotation, rhythm/meter, figurative language, tone, and theme. Interestingly, two of the elements rhythm and rhymes are closely related to phonology. Rhythm refers to stress pattern and rhymes relate to syllable structure. This paper will analyze the structure of rhythm and rhymes of William Wordsworth’s poem entitled ‘ I wandered lonely as a cloud’ to see whether a phonological analysis of this kind is applicable to poetry or other literary works
