According to Online Cambridge Dictionary ‘announcement’ is something that someone says officially. In a longer definition, it is mentioned that announcement is related to statement containing information that is shared publicly in the form of spoken or written. The announcement is delivered bilingual. When flight attendant sharing the announcement to the passengers it is meant that the passengers get the understanding on how to wear the safety belt and life buoy appropriately to secure their safety and the situational information during the flight. Language variation is a set of vocabularies used by profession or social group. It will make certain individual have similar linguistically behavior with the other so that they can speak the same code and respect to be members of the same speech community. It is used in communication that occurs in an environment tends to be different from others. This paper examines the use of language variety in the announcement of safety in flight articulated by flight attendants. This study describes kinds of language variety used by flight attendants when they enunciate the announcement to the passengers. The design of the study uses descriptive qualitative because it is conducted by observing naturally the language variety used by flight attendants in their job. The subjects of the study are the flight attendants of domestic and foreign airplanes who conduct their job. To collect the data, first the writer must record the spoken discourse of the announcements delivered by the crew during her flight from 2006 to 2009, and then analyze it by matching to each kinds of language variety.
