Isi artikelThis paper surveys current research and demonstrates how student-created materials can solve many of the problems teachers currently face in the language learning classroom. In addition, it provides practical examples teachers can apply to make lessons more relevant and meaningful to students. Research indicates that an ideal language learning environment incorporates a few key components. Students must be studying a topic of interest to them. They must be doing work that is meaningful to them and students need to feel invested in the class. Each student must also be working at his or her own level. Many teachers struggle to find materials that meet all these criteria. Research also shows that many students are more likely to remember something they have created rather than something that came from a textbook. A simple solution for teachers is to use student-created materials. This paper will provide ideas that teachers can use in their classrooms for students of all levels and all ages.
