This paper explores the pronominal system of Semandang and places it within a typology established in previous work on pronominal systems in other Austronesian languages (Cysouw, 2003). Semandang is an under-described Land Dayak language within the Austronesian language family spoken in West Kalimantan by about 20,000 speakers according to Ethnologue (Ethnologue, 2009). The pronominal system of Semandang differentiates between singular, dual, and plural in terms of number, and first, second, and third, in terms of person. In addition to number and person marking, the pronominal system of Semandang also has different forms determined by differences in generational membership by the interlocateurs. This feature is not discussed by Cysouw for any of the other Austronesian languages in his sample. Thus, a speaker will use a different pronoun depending on whether or not the hearer is from a different generation. I examine deictic features of this generational marking and further illustrate how generational ranking has effects on animacy. Finally, wider implications of this generational system in terms of general deictic theory are explored
