Speech of politicians—especially leaders—are believed as having a powerful influence on generating and manipulating people’s frame of thoughts. This study attempts to find out what influence is resulted from the presupposing ideas conveyed by both Presidents Indonesia and America while delivering their speech. Presuppositon analysis is undertaken to figure out the strength of ideology lies underneath their powerful words. The results show that factive and existential presuppositions are employed in larger amount by Bush comparing to SBY indicating the power of reliance of the speech. It reflects on the power of him as a president of an ideological country.
