Each of the strings of the guitar are tuned to a particular pitch or frecuency of sound. Disregarding constants suchs as the string diameter, temparature of the instrument, etc. the pitch of each string depends on the tension on the string which is created between the two points on the instrument which support the vibration, and the length of the vibrating portion of the string.
