The National Conference on Scientist-Practitioner Education and Training for the Professional Practice of Psychology was held in Gainesville, Rorioa, January 16-20, 1990. The purpose of this conference was to define The essential characteristics of the scientist-practitioner model. Since its promulgation at the Boulder Conference in 1949 (Raimy, 1950), this model has served as the framework for the majority of training programs in clinical psychology, and has been extended to other areas of professional plaice in psychology, such as school; counseling, and industrial psychology.
