Isi artikelAnaemia among workers is still a major problem in Indonesia that could reduce the productivity. It is caused by many factors, for instances insufficiency of iron intake, iron absorption disorder, less variation on diet, disease .and socio-economic condition. The aims of this study are collecting information on prevalence of anaemia as well as risk factors associated with anaemia among workers at formal industries in Jakarta. This study used cross-sectional survey design collecting 943 workers, aged 15-55 years old, consists of 641 (67,9%) male and 302 (32,1%) female. Data collected using interview methode with questioner, physical measurement, food intake recall and test Hb. Anaemia status based on the measurement of haemoglobin concentration were estimated according to the cyanmethemoflobin method using spectrophotometer. Body Mass Index (BM/) was calculated as weight/height (kg/m2). Status offood intake recall 1 x 24 hours used methode of interview. Independent variables are characteristics of respondent such as aged, education, gender and occupation and also habits (exercise, smoking, alcohol consumption and food intake), and dependent variable is haemoglobin level. Data analyzed by univariate and bivariate analysis to get Odd Ratio values. Results of this study showed prevalence of anaemia among workers were 14,1%; 5,6% for male and 32,1%for female respectively. Based on BMI indicator, 23,2% of workers have known obese and 61,6% carbohydrate consumption higher than food dietary allowance standard. Bivariate analysis results showed that factors related to anaemia are aged 15-39 years old (OR=1, 7; 95% CI=1,l-2,4), education (elementary and junior high school, OR=3,3; 95% CI=2,2-4,8), gender (female OR=7,9; 95% CI=5,2- 12,0), and occupational (OR=3, 2; 95% CI=2,2-4, 6).
