The objective of this paper is to create anthropometric data for calculating body surface area and determination of the equation for calculating elementary school student’s body surface area by west boyd nomogram It is based on the limitation of studies to collecting anthropometric data which is then processed statistically, the only objective is to determine data in the same population so make a characteristic of a population.This research has collected 273 children aged 7 to 11 years at SDN 02 Ujung Menteng, Cakung, East Jakarta. The sample consists of 142 girls and 131 boys. the collecting data started from early November to early December. Data were collected using a form of measurement . Data weight and height is used to in this research . Body dimension data is then used to calculate the body surface area. The largest average equation to calculate body surface area based on Nomogram West Boyd for boys aged 7-10 years is shown by BSA Boyd, while for 11 years is shown by DuBois and Gehan & George. And for girls aged 7-11 years is shown by Boyd and BSA, for ages 8 and 9 years is shown by Gehan & George. BSA have significant strong positive correlation with Nomogram West Boyd. Determination of the best equation for calculating body surface area is selected based on the smallest MSE (Mean Square Error).The best equation of body surface area is BSA Haycock because it has smallest MSE (Mean Square Error).The best equation of body surface area is proportional to the age of the sample. The proven is an increasing age of the sample so increase BSA. There is a decline in the value of BSA significantly when the sample was 11 years old. This is because the number of samples was 11 years old a few that did not reach 10%. Thebest the equation of body surface area is also proportional to height and weight because there is a significant positive correlation. |
