Abstract
CV. Lion Diamond has a problem in the raw material requirements planning. The number of raw materials that has been prepared for each of the production was not used up, so there are leftovers in the form of sacks containing raw material mixture. The purpose of this study is to determine the amount of raw materials needed for any real production activities carried out for each type of product, to provide raw material requirements planning proposal by modifying the current system, and to propose the order quantity of raw material based on P and Q inventory systems models. Raw materials requirements planning system to be used refers to the method of modifications made to the existing system. Before the planning is done, the process of scrap weight and reject data sampling will be done in advance in September to December 2012. Further acts consist of normality, uniformity, and adequacy will be tested on the data. One sample T test is then performed to determine whether the condition actually happens on the field is the same as the provisions set by the company in the amount of 1% for scrap and 3% for reject. The results will be used to determine the real weight amount of raw materials mixture used and the composition of plastic resin and colored pigment in the mixture. The process of ordering raw materials will be based on a model such as inventory systems P and Q models. The usage of both models will depend on the characteristics of the usage of both types of raw materials used by the company which consists of plastic resin and color pigments. The result shows that the actual amount of scrap happened in the production floor is 0,25%, while the amount of safety stock needs to be prepared for each production activity is 2,38%. The plastic resin raw material has the usage characteristics of fast moving things while colored pigments raw materials has the usage characteristics of slow moving things. The raw plastic resin ordering process will use Q inventory models, while the process of ordering colored pigment raw materials will use P inventory models. The optimum value of ordering period for colored pigment raw materials is just 1 day with the ordering quantity changing. The optimum value of ordering quantity of plastic resin is 20.750.185,55 grams or approximately 20,75 tons of plastic resin in which the ordering period of raw materials plastic resin is around 8 to 9 days with the total amount of the ordering for one year reach up to 42 times.
