Isi artikelThe aim of the research was to know whether the application of the problem solving method can improve students soft skills especially critical thinking skill, skill to co-operate, skill to work independently, skill to communicate, and problem solving skill.The population was of the 47 students of the department of Teachers Education for Elementary School (S1-PGSD), Sanata Dharma University. The research was also to verify the belief that the problem solving method can involve not only the most complex of all cognitive capacities but also can develop affective, psychomotoric, and social-cooperative capacities as nurturant effects if the method is developed in group investigation. After applying the method in ten activities in the lecture "The Fundament of Education for Elementary School ", the result of the research verified it. Using the assessment of the presentation papers in three circles as main data it was found that there was significant improvement of 21,5% from the first circle to the third circle. The secondary data confirmed that improvement indicating that the students could achieve over 3,5 even 3,8 from the scale of 1-4.
