Abstract
The importance of the electricity needs for lighting and other activities that can support the economy, makes several regions in Indonesia which has not been reached by PLN using generator as the alternate to get the sufficient electricity supply. However, the combustion of fuel which used by the generator to generate electricity can pollute the environment. Abundant and environmentally friendly resources can be harnessed to generate the electricity, water is one of the energy used to generate electricity using turbin pelton type. Alternator is a simple electromechanical device that converts mechanichal energy (rotation) into electrical energy without using fuel. Therefore, in this thesis was chosen alternator as a tool to do the testing with pelton turbine as a driver that used water energy source. Testing in this thesis aims to find ways of working and the resulting performance of the alternator. The completion of this test is to look at from the data result based on the rotation alternator, water pressure at the nozzle and the resulting electric induction alternator. Data generated by testing shows the water pressure of 2x105 Pa produced alternator rotational speed is 1126 rpm and down to 420 rpm at the alternator produces electric induction of 5.1 Volt. Based on the results of the test data, the alternator can be used as a replacement as the environmentally friendly power plants generator.
