A number of 81 models of camphor wood, consisting of three groups of 27 models each, were studied to explore the water absorption characteristic as an affect waterproofing treatment. Waterproofing material such as linseed oil, mineral spirit and special ingredient were given in 30% of specimen volume for linseed oil in specified level, 3 different levels for mineral spirit and a specified level of ingredient. Specimens then be painted and left to dry in 135 hours time and be cleaned with sandpaper to get original wood texture of specimens. In different group as levels and replicates indicated, specimen were submerged in fresh water in amount of the same as the total volume of the specimen in 135 hours time series. Measured moisture contents were tabulated according to levels of waterproof and it was found out that percentage of linseed oil had significant effect on the rate of water absorption. |
