Abstract
Surface roughness is a factor that very important and influential in product quality. In this paper, multiple regression analysis is used in generating an equation model to predict the surface roughness of lathe products. The equation model consists of one dependent variable that is surface roughness and three independent variables: nose radius, feed rate, and cutting speed. Then, the equation model was tested for accuracy by doing some more experimental with different levels, and compared with the popular used model. Concluded this equation model has higher accuracy. The most influential variable is feed rate, then followed by nose radius and cutting speed.
