Education that does not collect tuition fees from students or from their parents becomes important issue recently. This policy is addressed to the basic educations such as SD/MI and SMP/MTs that belong to state. It is based on the Indonesian Law, mainly the Constitution and the National Education System Law. The free education policy has been verily helpful to the people especially to the poor. The problem begins to arise when the policy potentially destroys private schools especially those in the rural areas. being free, people tend to send their children to state schools; and this causes private schools "lose" many new recruit students. Private schools will be hard, without students in sufficient number, to exist.
