Abstract
Vegetarian diet is known to reduce the risk of hypertension, NIDDM, gout, osteoporosis and cancer. Various studies have concluded that the risk of crystallisation of uric acid in people who adopt a vegetarian diet was significantly lower than those who often undergo consume animal products. According to one study, vegetable protein can reduce levels of uric acid in the blood and thus prevent the formation of kidney stones. This study aims to determine the effect of the vegetarian diet on blood uric acid levels in the community at the monastery Dutamas North Jakarta. This type of study is an observational study that is analytical. Research site in North Jakarta monastery Dutamas. Research subjects are all the people who come to the monastery Dutamas in North Jakarta that meet the inclusion criteria selected purposively. Respondents numbered 120 people. The results showed that vegetarian diet influences both low and normal blood uric acid levels.
