Isi artikel
Basic and dis cipline-specific tech nological com pe ten cies are needed by mar keting and busi ness school fac ulty, stu dents, and their employ ers. Inte gration of basic tech nologies is com - mon and eas ily accepted among youn ger stu dents and readily supported, at least philo sophically if not prac tically, by most business schools. Con versely, many mar keting and busi ness fac ulty face dif ficulties and prob lems with integration of new and dis cipline-specific tech nologies. The authors propose that these dif ficulties are most likely due to lim ited bud gets and time, nonspecialized tech nical sup port, and lack of a for - mal process. This arti cle pres ents the dif fu sion of inno va tions the ory as a pro cess for accom plishing a more for mal inte gra - tion of dis cipline-specific tech nologies into a mar keting and business pro gram. The use of “tech nology cham pions” is proposed as a means of enhanc ing the tech nology dif fu sion process.
