Neuroimaging techniques are becoming not only more and more sophisticated but are also coming to be increasingly accessible to researchers. Over the past 10 years there has been a large increase in the number of publications that directly investigate neural processing of language. These publications are surfacing not only in traditional neuroscientific journals (such as Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience and Brain Research) but are also appearing in more linguistic journals (such as Second Language Research).
