During 2007 I worked with the Tokyo Foundation on preparing rules concerning hostile takeovers, and after a yaer of work, we released the results in February 2008. Before that I hadn’t been directly involved in policy affairs of this sort, but I deciced to rake part in the rule making project because I sense we are at a critical juncture. The stock market is in the doldrums, and many people are seriously worried about the future of the Japanese economy.
