Abstract
Purpose: This article presents research that investigates the influence of attitude on
choosing a career in entrepreneurship among graduates in Malaysia. Entrepreneurship is
seen as a solution to the ever-growing problem of unemployment among
graduates. However, it has been found that this career choice is not favored by younger
people, especially graduates, who see entrepreneurship as only a second or even last choice.
Design/Methodology: This research was carried out using a questionnaire. The research
sample was chosen using stratified random sampling and consisted of 266 participants of
the Graduate Entrepreneurial Scheme (GES). Finding: Research findings show that an
attitude based on an internal locus of control, monetary value, and autonomy had a
significant impact on choosing entrepreneurship as a career choice. Practical Implication:
It was found that attitude can predict career choice in this field through aspiration level
among graduates. It is clear that attitude plays an important role in motivating an
individual’s career choice behavior in entrepreneurship.
