Warehouse layout influence the input and output order system. A good layout will make input / output order product and optimize cost easier. PT. Gemala Kempa Daya is a manufacture company which produce press parts, frame chasis, and side rail. Frame chasis and side rail which have been produced is frame and side rail for category 2 and 3 truck, so that size of the product produced in a big size, the long size of this product is about 4 until 12 meter. Product size according to the customer order, because of that the variant of product size depends on the tipe of product. Product delivery time to consumer were also variate, according to delivery schedule which have been given to the company. The variate of product delivery time will influence material handling trip distance. Product delivery with high frequency will make a high material handling distance trip. High meterial handling distance trip will cause a high meterial handling cost. Class based storage is a method of layout design according to material handling frequency. This method used for finish good location appropiate to product delivery to consumer and for decrease meterial handling distance trip, so that cost which have been came out from the company could be optimize. Material handling cost at the company now is Rp. 3.427.531,- with 182.425 meter distance trip. The recomendation of finish good warehouse layout with forklift needs Rp. 2.770.200,- with 37.520 meter distance trip. The recomendation of finish good warehouse layout with combilift needs Rp. 3.089.361,- with 34. 384 meter distance trip. The utilizing optimum cost like what company want could be reach with apply the recomendation of finish good warehouse layout with class based storage method and using forklift as material handler.
