I am grateful to the editors of Ethics for the privilege of having a symposium devoted to my book Why Social Justice Matters. Between them the symposiats cover a lot ground, including quite bit that lies outside the range of issues I addressed in the book. At the same time, a large proportion of it does not discussed by anybody, with the result that overall impression left by the symposium does not reflect the balance of the book as a whole.
