Presidential system with multiparty system has been argued as a weak combination. Having Latin America countries as vigorous examples of the instability for the two mixtures, several scholars of comparative politics, including Juan Linz and Arend Lijphart, argued that presidential democracies are inherently less stable and representative than parliamentary regimes. The instability of Presidential system mostly because it divides the government in two, executive and legislative; and these bring to a deadlock; which turn to fail the democracy. Even though these arguments are still debatable, Indonesia is currently inside the ball of these two systems. This paper is an attempt to contribute to that debate by showing a different approach to the problem with Indonesia is the focus country The paper presents the analysis of presidential system in maintaining government stability. It shows the argument around the perils of presidential system compare to parlementarism while study of The World Bank proved that government stability does not depend on the political system alone but on the voices and accountability, political stability, government effectiveness, regulatory quality and control of corruption. Historically, Indonesia is multi party system. Facing the 2009 election, the government tends to have a simple multi party system.
