Anorexia nervosa is a chronic psychiatric disorder characterized by reduction in food intake accompanied by weight loss and progressive disruption of body imaging, which usually appears in adolescence. Reduction of consumption of these foods causes the body, especially the brain, lack of essential nutrients. This can interfere with cognitive function and the structure of the brain. Affected cognitive brain functions of patients with anorexia nervosa are reading, calculation, memory, language, writing, etc and the changes of the brain structures especially are the gray matter, white matter and cerebrospinal fluid. |
