Isi artikel
The central components of environmental systems are biotic, and these biotic components are often especially fragile. Populations of trees, crops, fish, mammals, and even viruses have a critical impact on the long-term stability of ecosystems and on the sustainable harvesting of renewable resources. Understanding the dynamics of such populations is therefore mandatory for any successful implementation of environmental management strategies, whether directed at the conservation of biodiversity or at the maximization of sustainable yields.
