With the development of Information Technology in Indonesia, which is very rapid, the process of delivering information manually by direct face to face is rarely done because it is inefficient in terms of delivery time. Therefore, submission of information manually is now turning to online information delivery in web design. In the perspective of cognitive ergonomics, a user friendly web design must meet these criteria: searching ability, interpretation ability, and reading ability. Because users read the 20% -30% slower on a computer screen display of text compared to reading in hardcopy, then a web design ( article) should be prepared in a good, well printed with good quality, so that will help readers to read faster and faster in getting the message contained in it. This study aims to obtain a combination of type fonts, font sizes, spacing and size of font and background color contrast that gives the best rate for teenagers reading ability as measured by response time. Reading ability identified by measuring the speed of reading the reader to read a word in at all. Results of experiments obtained using ANOVA factorial experimental design to obtain a significant effect of factors and interactions between factors, with 0:05 significant factor contained in factor A type fonts, font sizes B, C size spaces spaces, the combination of factor interactions AB, AC and ABC . The results of this research is the best combination, based on the smallest response time Garamond typeface, font size 12 pt, spacing 1.5 and size text and background color contrast of white and black. This combination provides the level of on-screen text reading ability best for teenagers. |
