Isi artikel
This is my eighth year of intensive involvement with principals at multiple levels including appraisal, coaching, teaching and supervising for post-graduate qualifications, research, seminar and contract presentation and consultancy. The intimacy of that involvement, particularly in appraisal, has often been poignant and sometimes intensely painful. It has been touching to watch many of the superb principals that I have worked with lead extraordinary teams in the face of all the multiple complexities of organisations with increasing internal and external demands. The pain has occurred as I have attempted (not always successfully) to help principals to come to terms with the overwhelming loneliness associated with a job that is perhaps too big for even the very best of principals to survive alone.
