In his article in Volume l4,Trevor Male examines &dquo;the basic tenets of the Leadership Programme for Serving Heads programme and the development materials recommended for participants&dquo; (p6), and makes some observations and comments based on this. As a LPSH trainer since 1998, I would also like to make some observations, based on conducting workshops with over 70 experienced headteachers, from primary, secondary and special schools. In that time, only two headteachers have expressed disappointment with the basis of the programme. Why is this? I would argue that LPSH, far from being &dquo;one size fits all&dquo;, and hierarchical, as Male describes, is in reality, deeply humanistic.
