The Headteachers’ Leadership and Management Programme (HEADLAMP), established by the Teacher Training Agency (TTA), seeks to improve the quality of school management by supporting newlyappointed headteachers. The grant given to governing bodies can be used from the date of selection of a new headteacher until two years after the date of appointment. Thus, there is a need for a concentrated and clearly directed programme. An initial needs analysis will point up what training on management and leadership will be sought from registered providers.
