The three-stage national provision for aspiring, new, tL and serving headteachers has been supported and welcomed by professional bodies and potential beneficiaries. Recently the spotlight has been focused on training for potential and serving heads rather than HEADLAMP, the programme for newly appointed first time heads and the earliest element of the national initiative. A reworking of HEADLAMP is now due.
