Abstract
Manual material handling activity in packing work station inn Indonesia is still commonly used in any plants and industries. Manual material handling activity usually is lifting activity that use box as the
container to mkeep the products that ready to be sent. This activity has potential to cause some injury to the workers.
Based on the earlier research it’s known that there are some variables that may have any effects to lifting activity such as, lifting frequency, box size, and horizontal reach when doing lifting activity. These variables are used to discover safe lifting limit to the workers. The use of weight classification table shows that there are different grades of weight
based on heart rate. In addition based on Dr Lucien Brouha’s research, it shows that heart rate above 115 beats/minute is not recommended because
it can cause injuries to the workers. After finding recommendations for activities, ANOVA test is used to energy consumption data to find what kind
of variables that show effect to the worker’s heart rate. Then Tukey test is used to find significant difference between each of the value of variables for each variables that concerned. Using the heat rate and energy consumption, the recommendation
for lifting activities can be given for certain combinations of activities and weights. Beside that, these research can provide some information about
the variables that can have effect to the respon along with any advices to pay some attention to working conditions of industrial workers potential to cause some injury to the workers.
