Isi artikel
This paper examines the Chontal Mayan spoken by semi- speakers in San Carlos, Tabasco, Mexico. In comparison to the Chontal of fluent speakers, the language of semi-speakers is marked by a reduced phonology, a diminished Chontal lexicon, a reduced and generalized morphology and syntax, and the loss of speech varieties--typical signals of a dying language.
