The creation of bill on the status of batam as a free port and free trade area has been considered as very urgent either by the Indonesian government or House of Representatives (DPR-RI). DPR-RI's Legislation Council, through its last pleanary session has, furthermore, decided to prepare this bill in the next term of sessions. In consideration that the creation of a good bill will depend on its academic draft, relevant researches on general and spesific substances of the bill have been previously conducted. The report below discussess the results of the researches, which have been contributed to the making of an academic draft of bill on the Status of Batam as a Free Port and Free Trade Area.
