Isi artikel
Traditionally, psychiatric conceptions have served to regulate’s behavior according to prevailing social norms. This examination of the evolution ofpsychiatric thought about women from 1960-1994 found that a psychological model has largely replaced the biological model that dominated earlier psychiatric thought. New diagnostic categories that were introduced during this period reflect an enduring psychiatric orthodoxy that privileges dominant values controlling gender-role behavior in women.
