Isi artikel
From its inception 10 years ago, Affilia has been proud to deem itself a feminist journal, even when &dquo;feminist&dquo; was not a happy label to wear. Unlike other fields of study, however, social work has generally been slow to tackle the issue of what it means to be feminist in a postmodern era, characterized by skepticism about feminism’s continued relevance to practice. Furthermore, although many of us continued to refer to ourselves as feminists, we knew that attitudes toward and perceptions of feminism had changed for the worst. Still fewer of us were confident that we knew what these changes meant for our teaching and practice. In lieu of a scholarly debate on changes in feminist thought, however, we remained preoccupied with the backlash against the feminist beliefs and practices we acquired during the heyday of feminism in the 1970s and early 1980s.
