Metaspace is the term coined for the Ubiquitous Media: Asian Transformations (UMAT), Theory, Culture & Society 25th Anniversary Conference working database of the conference programme, abstracts for plenary lectures and session papers, along with related documents. The aim was to provide readily accessible information for all people within the conference venue, with access through laptop computers or mobile phones. It was designed to be an interactive conference ‘intranet’, which would not only provide information, but also allow participants to post discussions. This was very much in tune with one of the main aims of the UMAT conference: to rethink media theory, in terms of new media and digital information developments.
